Net Shed Hand – Aquaculture Operations
Established in 1972, Stehr Group is an Australian family-owned and run company that is recognised as one of Australia’s leading seafood companies, specialising in the offshore ranching and grow-out of Southern Bluefin Tuna.
We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Net Shed Hand. This is a land-based role with the possibility of 1 day per week working on a harvest vessel if required. The successful candidate will work closely with the Net Shed Supervisor to ensure the effective maintenance of nets and other infrastructure, while maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Location: Port Lincoln (with the possibility of 1 day on a vessel)
- Reports to: Net Shed Supervisor
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the cleanliness of the shed and yard.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and environmental work instructions.
- Perform correct and sufficient repairs of nets and infrastructure as directed by the Supervisor.
- Demonstrate proficiency in splicing 3 and 8 strand ropes.
- Know and tie all required knots as instructed by the Net Shed Supervisor.
- Follow all instructions from the Net Shed Supervisor or Next in Charge.
- Be knowledgeable about finfish and tuna net and rope specifications.
- Understand and maintain emergency procedures.
- Accurately record maintenance and follow established protocols and systems.
- Know the location and intended use of all items in the Net Shed.
- Report any equipment, crew, or procedural issues to the Supervisor or Management.
- Perform general maintenance as needed.
- Be available for tuna harvest operations and weekend work (if required).
Requirements:
- Prior experience preferred but not necessary.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Forklift license (preferred but not essential).
This is a casual position with the potential for full-time employment for the right candidate. An appropriate remuneration package will be confirmed subject to the skills, experience, and qualifications of the successful applicant.
